Colonization
The concept of colonization has been around for centuries. It can be traced back to ancient civilizations. The idea of colonization is setting up colonies in another country. However, the reason that this is done is to exploit another country by gathering labor and resources.
For example, the effects of colonization in Western Africa was written about in an article published by Britannica, talking about how the balance of power in Western Africa kept fluctuating because of colonists coming into the region. It is stated that, “...French and British armies had already ventured into the interior and had defeats on the major African powers”.

Less prominent crops such as cocoyams, cassava, etc. were seen as femanine crops that women grew, while men grew yams. On page 33, it is stated, “Yam stood for manliness, and he who could feed his family on yams from one harvest to another was a very great man”.
