by training when they are younger they will be better men when they grow up. Showing why masculinity plays a role in Igbo culture, by showing thta men are supposed to be able to fight

Nwoye
how Okonkwo’s son, Nwoye isn’t going to live up to his masculine name, and how he prefers to do the jobs that are primarily for the women. As shown in the book Okonkwo is worried about Nwoye, because he believes he won’t grow up to be a powerful man
By doing this it shows how Okonkwo wants his son to be a man and do manly things, and that he wouldn't look at Nwoye the same if he didn't live up to his name
Colonization

The Act of conquering areas to establish control over an area, and spread your own ideas of religion and culture.
New Yorker
"But the structure remains the same: men ask for immortality and the god is willing to grant it, but something goes wrong and the gift is lost forever."
This quote shows how men are granted different, and more oppurtunities than the women of Igbo culture. The article says the men can be immortal. But it doesn't mention anything about women.
The Second Coming
"A shape with a lion body and head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.
These stanzas talk about wild animals, and how unforgiving the environment can be. Despite that it also shows how men show bravery and will do anything for their own pride.
