The Bill of Rights
1st Amendment - Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, & the right to petition the government
2nd Amendment / gun control - you have a right to own fire arms
3rd Amendment - no soldiers or government officials in private homes
4th Amendment - What you do in your home is your business unless there is a reasonable suspicion or probable cause.
5th Amendment - an individual cannot be compelled by the government to provide incriminating information about herself
6th Amendment - you have a right to a speedy and public trial
7th Amendment - the states handle their own civil cases in their own courts
8th Amendment / death penalty - Preventing the federal government from posting excess bail, excessive fines, or cruel and unusual punishment
9th / 10th Amendments - addresses rights, retained by the people, that are not specifically enumerated in the Constitution & the federal government has only those powers specifically granted by the Constitution
