DNA replication
Importance: DNA replication is needed to replace damage cells and grow new cells. In order to grow in size, reproduce and heal wounds.
process:
- Helicase = unwind the DNA
-
Detailed process:
- Helicase needs to unzip/ unwind the DNA strand
- Primase needs to add primers to each strand and start the replication
- Polymerase removes the primers, extending DNA strands and add nucleotides (base pairings)
- Ligase joins the fragments together to complete the lagging strand.
MITOSIS
Process:
Interphase ( before)
Prophase (start
Metaphase (middle)
Anaphase (away)
Telophase (two)
Cell membrane is separated into two daughter cells, followed by cytokinesis
