Description

Species have 10 pair of legs, one appendix (leaf form) and their color depend on the concentration of salt in the water (green if it is low and red if it is high)
They feed with algae, protozoa and detritus
In favorable environmental conditions, with water, the eggs can develop into nauplia (larvae) or in unfavorable, water drying, they are transformed into cysts
Reproduction
Oviparous
Eggs develop into a gastrula stage after copulation fertilized and are surrounded by a tough brown crust (made of chitin, lipoproteins and others)
Then cysts pass through a drying process, so when conditions become favorable they can get free larvae
Ovoviviparous
The fertilized egg develop to the stage of gastrula into differentiate into female body (nauplia). These turn adults within 3 weeks
