marxist- only benefited those of a middle class- had correct capital to access how to go to better schools such as grammar schools, didn't reduce inequality. middle class benefitting
functionalist- allows a meritocratic society, children are going to schools based off of achievement. makes people want to work harder
feminists- still not equal opportunity- even in grammar schools, girls were treated differently, taught home making skills, instead of mathematical skills.
