Salvation History, How is he so perfect?, Why is Jesus the New Adam? -…
Salvation History
THREE precursors of Jesus in the Old Testament
Covenant of Noah:
-eg. man on the crucifix beside Jesus
This was prefigured when Noah’s family was saved with him because of their connection with him and his faith.
The people connected with Jesus were saved from judgement
Abraham and Isaac, because Abraham trusted in God and used Isaac as the ultimate sacrifice, such as Jesus.
Covenant of Abraham:
Jesus who sacrificed himself for our sins.
Covenant of David:
God makes a covenant with
David, Which Is conrfirmed with
Solomon, David's son.
God’s Role in Human History
God proposes a New Eternal Covenant, between Himself and all the faithful.
“He who eats My Flesh and Drniks my Blood (Holy Eucharist) will have my life within him and I will raise him up on the last day” - Jn 6:54)
God is a loving, redeeming and personal God, who intends for relationships between Him and His people
What is Salvation History?
Our salvations lie in Jesus, this is our faith IN him.
the story of how God saved us through His direct interaction with the Hebrews in the Old Testament.
His interaction unfolds theoughout his people, Abraham, Moses and Davis
This plan reaches it climax through our Saviour Jesus Christ and his direct interventions with his people.
How does Jesus fulfill these TWO covenants?
God promise’s to never destroy the world as he did with the flood. We are welcomed with the safety of our faith in Him, as Noah had faith in his family.
Circumsision: the grace and faithfulness to God shows with this act - “I have come to fulfill”
Why is Jesus the fulfillment of Salvation History?
Jesus Crhrist is an ultimate sacrifice
Jesus role is to reveal the truth to us.
God has been preparing our hearts and He reveals the mysteries of our faith.
Hebrews 1: 1-2
On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers
whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.
through the prophets. But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son,
How is he so perfect?
Jesus was made in God’s Image and God is being, therefore he is All.
He had never sinned.
Why is Jesus the New Adam?
Adam was tested in the Garden of Eden, just as Jesus was tested in the Garfen of Gethsemane.
God created Adam in the image and likeness of Him, although Adam failed as he had sinned along with Eve. Jesus in way was the successor of Adam, as he was made in God’s image and never sinned
Jesus saved us from our sins.
