Poem is about a woman that belives she has found her soulmate, she is saying goodbye to her husband as she is dying, she is not sure if to die or not as she doesnt want to leave her husband mourning her. She convinces not to morn her and instead celebrate her life nad that she would always be with him
Key language devices
Anaphora "thou" shows passion in her writting and a cumulative effect is created
"wordly" shows how positive and uplifting her message towards her husband is
Rhyming couplets creates an uplifting tone to the story
"Conqueror" shows it will be a powerful fight, she will not be able to beat it
Personification - "He woos me to him"
Key structural devices
Rhyme scheme - throught the whole poem the rhyme scheme is extremely positive and that adds a jolly rhythm + there are heroic couplets which make iambic pentameter
Caesura - used in line four to show the pause in their love as she in on her deathbed and is going to pass away
Shifts in tone
1st shift - Lines 1-4 Monck addresses the poem to her husband and tells him that he is her everything
2nd shift Lines 5-12 she ecplains that death is approching, but that she sees it as comforting release from her pain, she embraces the isea and speaks of the eternal bliss and heaven waists her
3rd shift Lines 13 - 16 despite what she is feelings she explains that she feels a sense of guilt or fear about what her death will do to her husband
