Planning apps/options

Alternatives

Gantt Chart

Calendar Planner

Apps

Trello

Notion

Cons

Pros

Information is tangible, i have difficulty remembering things if not infront of me. Therefore having it set up somewhere I can see everything I will be more likely to do everything

I can take photographs/prints of original calendar and carry them on me so that I dont forget

Cons

If its damaged all information on the calendar will be destroyed and I'll have to restart

I have a tendency to enjoy destroying/physically have a reminder/notification that I have finished a specific piece of work

It can have a negative impact towards the environment, with use of paper when it can be done digitally

Pros

Cons

I have used it before, and I personally don't enjoy using it, having to access the app to do the work and having to manually add settings when if I were to do it manually would be faster.

Free

Pros

Free

Scrumboard

Pros

Cons

Pros

Free to create (minus notepads etc)

Cons

Has physical presence, (unless made online) therefore easier for me to interact with and use

If i decide to print smaller versions it has an environmental impact.

Actively interactive with moving things from one point to the next

Importance of planning

Sprints

This is an extensive project that has a lot of aspects incorporated into it. I need to plan so that I can stay on top of the workload and create the best possible work with the time I have.

Pros

Cons

Currently already using a Gantt Chart from Mrs. Bullock that has a general rundown of the year. It is proving useful because it helps me to plan everything I am doing.

Agile, efficient way of planning that is well adapted to adjusting to mentor and end-user feedback.

Is useful for overall work but isn't as efficient for the finer more detailed aspects of tasks. Would be difficult to plan out specific tasks with this.

If only adjusted to the months it won't show an overall years planning of work

Gives the overall summary of work and helps you with understanding the fundamentals of the overall project

Easy to adjust weeks of work

Can only adjust a month of work instead of being able to adjust days-hours of works

Can constantly occur to ensure the best outcomes

Can be difficult if not willing to accept criticisms/feedback

Can take up time

Can be confusing when starting to use, or overall finicky

Has a lot of available options for templates etc. that would be useful

Will never be finished, meaning that at some point I will have to stop working on it because of time constraits.

Additonally is a good way for me to justify the actions I am taking.

Something I am used to doing because of previous work in Digital and so I am familiar with it.

Similar to a Scrum board and can add due dates etc. Overall has a lot of possibilities for when it comes to planning and can be more efficient in helping me manage time.

Decided Planning techniques to be used

Sprints

Calendar Planner

Gantt Chart

Scrum Board

I don't like using it, therefore I won't end up using it

I won't be using Notion because I prefer to use things more common to me.

I will be using sprints because it is an easy to gain feedback from mentors and stakeholders and I am used to using it.

Will be using this as it is a useful planning technique.

If I physically make it, it will only be avaliable at the place I make it depending on the size. If i make it large there will be general difficulty with transporting

I will be using a calendar planner because its useful like the Gantt chart but I can create finer more detailed elements of the work as well as having the larger overview.

I wont be using Trello
