Symbols & motifs

Motif
Cameronianism
Flora keeps failing to find and receive the things in life she might very well deserve, very much thanks to her sober way of life, which keeps standing in her way of happiness and success, even though she doesn't see it that way.

Readers Response
I was very much able to relate to the whole idea of values evolving with newer generations and the struggle this brought the narrator throughout her life. I have trouble finding my way through that myself sometimes, considering religion for example; I believe in god and I feel like a good christian, but there are so many things the Church tells us that I don't agree with. I often ask myself the question; what makes me a good person/christian and what makes me bad?
