In The Giver, a dystopian novel by Lois Lowry about a boy called Jonas; Who lives in a town where everything is the same, no one experiences real love, real pain and real grief. The community would call him "normal" but ever since young he has seen more than everyone else. At 12 he is assigned as Receiver Of Memory, the most important responsibility of the whole village, when he uncovers that the town is nothing of what it seems. Jonas discovers love, pain and grief through the memories he experiences; the ending of the book is influenced by these attributes.
