On Church ministry, in particular, dedicates itself to helping those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. It is called pastoral care. Parishioners volunteer and, if necessary, receive special training to best serve those in need. Pastoral care includes actions such as visiting patients in the hospital or at home, bringing the Eucharist to those who cannot make it to mass, and praying with those in need. It also includes counselling people who are experiencing loss through death, separation or difficulty with family, relationships or other personal problems.
Pastoral care is a ministry of presence and support that is blessing those in need. It respects human dignity by helping meet people's physical, social, emotional, or spiritual needs. Although you may be to young to be a pastoral caregiver, you can still serve in the same spirit by being aware, present, and supportive to people in need of your life, such as your grandparents or neighbours.
