how does our understanding of human dignity affect the way that we live our faith
Catholic Social Justice Principles
Human dignity: all of us are made in the image of God to know love and serve him. every person's life matters and is to be respected. all of the other social teachings expand on this truth.
community and the common good: If we want to be human we have to belong to our families, communities, and society. No matter how different we are, we are all connected. So that means we are to respect each other's needs and help them. The communities that we grow in help us be better.
solidarity: we all have a responsibility and that responsibility is to respect and protect the rights of others. We accomplish these responsibilities when we support human dignity.
rights and responsibilities: we want to become what God created us to be. We are responsible for the common good of our communities. We also have the right to get what we need to accomplish our responsibilities. These rights are rooted in our responsibilities.
stewardship of creation: We shall all respect God by respecting his creations. We are made in God's image to do his work and care for his creations.
participation in society: We should all be able to participate in our societies and communities. Every body should be treated fairly and should be able to contribute to their societies.
care for people who are poor and vulnerable: Because every one has dignity we have a responsibility to care and protect those who are considered poor and vulnerable.
the dignity of work: Dignity of work is caring for people's right to get fair wages, work in fair working conditions, And work for a reasonable amount of time. It also includes people being able to work.
peace: is the result of social justice. Social justice relies on respect for human dignity out of everyone. Social justice also relies on cooperation, kindness, and participation from all nations and people.
Common Good
To achieve Common Good in this world we all must do our part of making better choices.
encyclicals help us achieve common good.
Common Good is the joy of being in a great team and is not possible by oneself.
living in solidarity
Solidarity means that we are interdependent and that we all matter. We all have a role and purpose. We all need each other.
God created us like we are on one matter how far apart we are. no matter if we are different religions we are always connected.
When we notice that the poor, weak, and sick people are in connected with us we must help them with our actions.
Grace moves us forward because grace is God's love and life within us. This is why when we see someone who is disrespectful we are motivated to act in a good way.
Rights and responsibilities
Many people have food, shelter, and water but some cannot have such rights some girls cannot get an education because either they are too busy helping their families or they don't have the rights.
Not upholding another's right is not following God's plan.
We need to respect and uphold right for the people who don't have them.
working with dignity
All people have the right to work in fair conditions and get paid enough but many cannot get these rights. Some workplaces can make people work for a long time in unsafe conditions and get paid very little.
Because all people are part of God's family we have the responsibility to speak up when we see someone's rights being disrespected.
Work can be more than a job. It is the thing that helps us contribute to society, get some self-esteem, and help families.
loving and serving those in need
The samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 converted his compassion into action.
If someone is in need we have the responsibility to help them and care for them in anyway.
Feeling sorry for someone is not enough. If someone is in need then we help those people as we are all God's people.
What we believe
One church ministry, in particular, has a goal to help those in mind, body, and most importantly spirit. this is called pastoral care.
As Christ's body on earth, we are beckoned over to God and were made to do his work and help those who are poor and vulnerable.
Jesus is in us. He works through us and helps us help another and he helps us while we do his work if we are unsure.
The Holy Spirit inspires our charity
All of us are equipped and ready for a life of charity. When we are open to God's will and accept the purpose of our lives the Holy Spirit tempts us into goodness, truth, and beauty. The Holy Spirit also drags us deeper into the love of God as we open our hearts to him.
The Holy Spirit nudging us inspires all of us to honour human dignity in someone else.
We are especially made to love God. This love is supposed to be shared with others.
focus on scripture

our real treasures are discovered in following Jesus.

God calls everyone to share their own blessings.

God calls us from selfishness to comfort others.
The Spirit of the Lord upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. -Luke 4:18(Isaiah 61:1)
Praying over others to share Gods love

We have not ceased praying for you and asking that may you may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, Fully pleasing him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God.

Witnessing through the nations through actions
Evangelizing is spreading the good news about Jesus Christ.
Saying that we love God is not the same as doing meeting their needs.
If we do something that is meaningful to another it is also showing our concern.

We receive our Lord's love by serving one another, especially through sacraments. Sacramental grace tempts us onto a path of holiness. As we receive sacraments our bond with God becomes stronger. our connection with the church grows as well when we receive sacraments. This helps carry our mission to promote love to our neighbours through charity.
