Segregation/Jim crow laws affected me badly by exposing my family to its effects. My Grandfather was affected by segregation.
1) Segregation/Jim Crow laws (1870's-1900's) This was BAD for the United States/Americans. This made our country worse because segregation promoted racism and still affects ethnic communities today.
The Assembly line affected me positively by producing mass items. There is usually many items that are in stock, which allows me to purchase the item instead of having to wait for months on end. There are many instead of one. Now I can have the same item my neighbor has.
2) Assembly line (1913-1920’s) This was GOOD for the United States/Americans. This made our country better because it benefitted the economy and made items more affordable/ attainable. Items were able to be produced faster and in greater quantities
The Harlem Renaissance affected me positively by allowing me to experience a variety of black music. If this did not happen, the music, dance, art and social industries would be quite different today.
3) Harlem Renaissance (1918/1920’s) This was GOOD for the United states/ Americans. This made our country better because it promoted black music, arts, and culture.
Automobile creation affected me positively by allowing me to have a car. I can drive a car, I can purchase a car at an affordable price as a middle class citizen. Everyone has cars!
4) Automobile creation/industry (1920’s) This was GOOD for the united states/Americans. This made our country better by making cars more affordable and accessible.
The KKK affected me badly because it enstooled fear into my grandparents. This was a real issue my grandparents came face to face with.
5) the KKK (1920's) This was BAD for the United states/Americans. This event promoted racism and violence among all "abnormal" groups (mainly African Americans)
Flappers Affected me positively by giving me inspiration to go against societies standards and live my true self. Free of restrictions.
6) Flappers (1920's) This was GOOD for the United states/Americans. Flappers were a symbol of women's freedom and inspired music/dancing.
The Great Depression affected me badly by increasing inflation. The great depression actually affected my great grandparents and my grandparents as well. they recall it as a very tough and painful time.
7) Great Depression (1929) This was BAD for the United states/Americans. Many Americans were suffering because of poverty, homelessness, and unemployment.
The stock market crash affected the economy badly by severely reducing the equity of the economy, so many people lost jobs! and homes, and money!
8) the stock market crash (1929) This was BAD for the united states/Americas. This is where the great depression really hits. MILLIONS lost their money in stocks.
Roosevelt's "New Deal" affected me positively by saving my family from the great depression. They got their lives back, had they not I would probably not be here today.
10) Roosevelt’s new deal (1933-1941) This was GOOD for the United states/Americans. Roosevelt's new deal raised the economy out of depression and bettered people's lives.
Creation of the FDIC affected the economy positively by ensuring people's bank accounts. People's money was safe and they could pay for living expenses.
11) Creation of FDIC (1933) this was GOOD for the united states/Americans. created by FDR, this guaranteed that all bank accounts up to $5,000 were safe.
The Dust Bowl affected me badly by killing my great uncle. He perished in a dust storm, he was a farmer.
9) The dust bowl (1930's) This was BAD for the United states/Americans. this made our country worse because it negatively effected the economy and many farmers lost their jobs/lives
The Creation of SEC affected the economy positively by securing monetary value and saving money that could be used for later.
12) Creation of SEC (June 6th,1934) This was GOOD for the united states/Americans. Created by FDR, this regulated the sale of stocks and outlawed the buying to stocks on margin.
The creation of WPA affected the economy positively by giving people jobs. People could work now, and rebuild their lives.
13) Creation of WPA (1935) This was GOOD for the united states/Americans. This gave employment to men to build roads, dams, and other governmental needs.
WWII affected the economy positively by approving racial and gender equality, providing new opportunities to work, and rebuilding the American Economy.
14) WWII (Sept. 1st, 1939- September 2nd, 1945) this was GOOD for the united states/Americans . many positive changes occurred during WWII, more than negative.
The Selective service act affected me positively by shielding me from the war. I am a woman. I do not have to get drafted, unlike the men.
15) Selective Service act (1941) This was BAD for the united states/Americans. This brought back the draft, which meant more men/young boys were being sent to war and dying. They had no choice.
The holocaust affected the American Economy positively/negatively. We weren't really affected by it but we tried to help out as best as we could. it was morally wrong.
16) The holocaust (1941-1945) This was GOOD for the united states Americans. The holocaust didn't really involve americans.
The great migration affected the united states positively by promoting the Harlem renaissance. More people meant more work which benefitted the economy.
17) Great migration (1960-1970) this was GOOD for the united states/Americans. The great migration was a huge movement of A.A's from the south to the north.
Voting Rights act of 1965 affected me positively by allowing me to vote! I am a woman, I am a minority. I would not have been allowed to vote today had this not happened.
18) Voting rights/voting rights act (august 6th, 1965) This was GOOD for the united states/ Americans. Racial discrimination was BANNED! Now everyone could vote regardless of ethnic background, disabilities, sexual orientation, or gender.
9/11 affected the economy BADLY by severely damaging the surrounding capital. Hundreds of lives were lost, it really brought the nations together. It was a national crisis.
19) 9/11 (2001) This was BAD for the united states/ Americans. The attack on the twin towers devastated not only the US. but the whole WORLD.
Covid-19 affected me positively by strengthening my immune system. I actually contracted the covid-19 virus and was very sick for a long while but I am much healthier now! I am vaccinated and my body will be ready to fight it next time.
20) Covid-19 (2020) This was BAD for the united states/Americans. This virus was worldwide, but it's effects were most common in the united states.
