Interview #5: sexually assaulted at 14 by a rival gang member; had to do the calculus in a split second: if she resists, she gets bruises; her family and fellow gang members see this, and they enact retribution on the other gang; the other gang gets revenge themselves, and it escalates, inevitably ending up with someone dead. She decided to "take it," and not resist.

HS student saying problematic things at ungergrad research week. Blaming male violence on biology. Connection to Buffalo and Uvalde. Need to teach sociology In hs to push back against biological determinism.
Liberation Is not women going to war. Its having peace. It's no war. Masters Thesis was about language about women soldiers In the media before combat rule repealed. Equality Isn't wanting to die as much as a man does.
Studying army/gun style baby gear. Selling product with a longarm on the playground. Should not be associating guns and babies, and then Texas happens. Focus of dissertation.
So sick and tired of hearing thoughts and prayers. How many times are we gonna say that? Abbot's press conference. We need to do something about purchasing weapons that can shoot like that. We don't have AR-15s In the air force. We don't need to give those to 18 year olds.
Good guy argument doesn't work any more. So proud of Beto for Interrupting In his press conference. Everything Is political. Your lack of talking about gun policy Is political, as much as Beto O Rourke. Can't believe they said son of bitchh Is on air. They're supposedly pro life Ok with kids getting killed.
My kids have armor In their backpack. Was an active shooter at UCLA. I have armor In my teaching tote bag. Looks like a white board but its Ballistic armor level 3. If you hear something loud, get your backpack. But dont run outside to get your backpack. **(They were unaware they were talking about two different active shooters. Speaks to the number of shooters that Its confusing who Is being spoken about)
As a kid, If you didn't have gang beef you'd be fine. Now Its so Indiscriminant. So bad.

Brother was like his oldest son, his motivation. they would hang out everyday. put covers over brother night before he passed. found him dead In the morning. named son after brother. Still has his phone, watches the videos on It. son called out Uncle Ken In the backyard when the dog was outside. Was an altar for brother In the backyard. He went and just stayed outside, felt brother's presence. Talks to him a lot, thanks him. He always thought he was going to die first. "When I die who's gonna keep my stories going?" He knew what his brother wanted for his funeral bc the way they were living growing up they would talk about death
