Content Management
Different media: Paper, CD, Web, Video, Movies, Flash, etc.
Paper
Paper is used for printers and photocopiers for the production of office documents, despite the proliferation of screens, paper consumption does not decrease, but increases, further deepening ecological problems. The paper era is not dead, but this incoming digital stage is promoting its production, use and consumption.
CD
CD-Audio has completely replaced the classic LP or vinyl record. It is estimated that numerous original audio-CDs are created each year in the world. Worldwide production is estimated at approximately 90,000 original titles per year, the equivalent of 59 TB (without compression).
Video
A video file is a mix of image and audio in a single digital file. It has been necessary to develop new compression formats to improve the speed of connections in the transmission of video images over the Internet.
Movie
The amount of information produced and stored on film has increased due to the expansion of the film industry, rather than film-based or X-ray photography, since digital photography has already begun to supplant analog photography. .
The appropriate selection of content according to the learning objectives
The teacher should:
a) have criteria for the selection and sequencing of the teaching content;
b) knowing how to formulate, in relation to the teaching objectives and contents, a series of meta-knowledge, a set of general procedures and a series of basic values that serve as a continuous reference for the teaching-learning process; Y
c) specifically, develop content plots that relate information from scientific disciplines and relevant and interesting problems for students.
Author Tools
An e-learning authoring tool is a type of software that allows you to create digital training content, convert it to an e-learning format, and distribute it to learners through a learning management system or on the web.
PowerPoint-based tools
There is a class of e-learning tools that work as PowerPoint plug-ins.
Most suitable for:
Teams that need to create content quickly.
Companies that use in-house experts to create content.
Smaller companies that do not have dedicated specialists who take care of it. development and design of electronic courses.
cloud-based tools
Web-based services are becoming more and more popular for numerous reasons.
Most suitable for:
Teams that have many authors and need collaboration and review features.
Teams that need more flexibility when working.
highly specialized tools
If you only create video courses, all you need is a professional video editor.
Most suitable for:
Situations in which you need to create a certain type of formation.
Use as an additional tool to facilitate the course creation process.
Manage content and activities (they are usually called CMS, Content Systems)
Characteristic
Updates. The management system must be continuously updated in order to be able to eliminate and thus correct the faults that have been found by the users.
Control. It guarantees the possibility of being able to exercise control in relation to the evolution and the result of the students and also facilitate communication with the teacher.
Management. It makes it easier for students to manage and structure educational resources in a single space.
Personalization. It allows the academic institution to personalize the space according to its identity.
Medium. It ensures that the provider fully controls and masters the system in order to receive technical support in the event of an unforeseen event.
Affinity. Affinity and support of international online course standards, such as SCORM and AICC.
Usability. It is essential to structure the platform well to avoid failures and thus not affect the learning process of the students.
Stability. All technical failures in the system must be avoided so as not to influence the connection of users.
Content standards: ADL SCORM and AICC.
The SCORM model (ADL, 2005) is a set of standards and specifications for sharing, reusing, importing, and exporting OA. This model describes how content units relate to each other at different levels of granularity, how content communicates with the LMS, defines how to package content for cross-platform import and export, and describes the rules that an LMS must follow when in order to present specific learning.
To deliver your e-courses through an LMS, SCORM has three main components that work together:
Content Packaging: Packages the course in a ZIP file.
Runtime: Launch the course in a web browser.
Sequencing: Determines how learners navigate through the course.
AICC
AICC is a very old e-learning standard. It was created in 1988 by the Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee (AICC) to standardize the materials and technology used to train workers in the airline industry.
The AICC standard uses the HTTP AICC Communication Protocol (HACP) to communicate between an LMS and course content. The HACP methodology is quite simple, using an HTML form and simple text strings to transmit information to and from the LMS.
There are actually a couple of areas where AICC still has an advantage:
Security: AICC is more secure. Supports highly secure HTTPS data transfers between the content and the LMS.
Deployment flexibility: AICC content can be stored on a separate server or domain from the server the LMS is hosted on, allowing for more flexible deployment.
