Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat are examples of Mass media apps that allow messages to be transmitted to groups of people. With the rise of new media platforms, individuals also become createors of messages transmitted on mass media.

Can monitor political actions and form an impression of their capabilities. Citizens can also keep up with official actions.
Enable them to use social media as a tool to connect them with politicians and express feedback and problems. Future political actions can then better meet needs of the people
Citizens build false impressions of politicians due to manipulated information accessible to the public. They may have ideas planted into their head due to falsehoods spread by untruthful politicians. (brainwashed?)

Politicians can easily reach a wider audience and leave a greater impact as they can spread their message to more people.

the information creates common knowledge of a norm and enhances social coordination as individuals more readily accept the information if they believe others have also accepted it. When in a group setting, individuals are likely to all give the same answers as they will force themselves to try to fit in. As compared to a private setting where individuals are more willing to say what they truly think about a situation without being influenced.
