EDWARD JENNER
WHO WAS HE
Edward Jenner was working as a family doctor in his town of Berkley, Gloucestershire and 1788 made fellow of royal society.
WHAT DID HE DO
Jenner used the pus from cowpox sores and rubbed it into the scratches he made of the arm of an 8 year old boy. He got a mild temperature but that was all.
He did this on a further 23 non of whom caught it.

This outbreak in 1851 made him reflect that cholera could be waterborne.
-He made a connection between a broad street pump in Soho and the death rate in that area.
JOSEPH BAZALGETTE
-He was appointed Chief engineer to the metropolitan board in 1856, when the river thames was nothing but an open sewer.
--He designed a comprehensive plan, where the sewage was channeled through miles of street sewage into larger sewers where it was then pumped into the tidal part of the river thames.
