URBAN GROWTH AND URBAN NEED TO BE FAIR
INTRODUCTION
The global urban population is predicted to rise at a 1.63 percent annual rate between 2020 and 2025, and at a 1.44 percent annual rate between 2025 and 2030."
Rapid and frequently unplanned urbanization creates situations that harm human health. Poverty, environmental issues, and rising population needs that exceed available service capacity are only a few of these situations.
OBJECTIVE
To investigate the pattern of urbanisation development in Shiraz since 1977.
To examine the hospital development model in Shiraz following 1977.
To analyse and prioritise hospital location-allocation criteria.
Based on predetermined criteria, identify suitable areas for the building of potential future general hospitals in Shiraz.
METHODOLOGY
Shiraz region land-use maps of 1977, 1987, 2000
2016 were extracted from Landsat image
Landsat satellites with 30 m and 60 m resolution were utilized to evaluate the urban growth model.
In three land-use classes, the Shiraz land-use map was recovered using the supervised classification approach and the maximum likelihood algorithm.
CONCLUSION / RESULT
Shiraz is a provincial main city with 11 administrative zones and a population of 1.609.615 people.
Shiraz has 32 hospitals with a total of 5520 active beds.
Although there was a significant increase in urban growth from many geographical directions (especially in the northwest and southeast regions) after 1977, hospital building was restricted to the central area.
