Procedure for Identifying and Helping Struggling Students

Teacher or parent notices that a student is struggling.
Student monitored for 1-2 months
Student continues to show signs
Parents consent to giving the student level 1 support. Student meets with the school counselor, who gives the student, teacher, and parents guidance and advice. Parents are asked to provide more support for the student at home.
Student still continues to struggle
Parents, teacher, and school counselor meet to decide whether the student requires level 2 support.
Student is recommended level 2 support.
An IEP is laid out by the school counselor. Parents are asked to take part in the students education.
Student shows little or no progress and continues to struggle.
Parents, teacher, and school counselor meet to decide whether the student requires level 3 support.

Student shows progress. School counselor continues to evaluate the IEP and make adjustments when necessary.
Student is not recommended level 2 support.
Student continues getting level 1 support and monitored.
Student discontinues level 1 support.
Student shows significant progress.
Student discontinues level 1 support.
Student continues level 1 support and is monitored.
Parents do not consent to level 1 support.
Student stops showing signs of struggle
Continue monitoring for 1-2 months
