Otitis Media is derived as an inflammatory process that is followed by a viral upper respiratory tract infection that mainly includes nose, nasopharynx, Eustachian Tube(s), mucosa of the middle ear. The smallness and constriction shape of the middle ear ends up with decreased ventilation since the oedema that is caused by the inflammatory process blocks the small and narrowest part of the Eustachian tube. As there is poor ventilation, inflammation and blockage along the middle ear, there is negative pressure within the middle ear and a build up of mucus secretions which will serve as a medium for growth and living environment for viral infections and bacterial infections .in the middle ear. As these infectious agents accumulate in the middle ear, there will be bulging and inflammation of the tympanic membrane and purulent middle ear fluid . This results in pain and inflammation of the middle ear.
