Spinal Bifida
Definition
Its a malformation if the spine in which the posterior portion of lamina of one or more vertebrae fail to develop, its more common in the lumbar and sacral region.

Pathophysiology
Its occurs when there is a failure of the posterior neural tube closure, the failure then disrupt all of the overlying tissues, preventing the vertebral arch from closing.

The cerebrospinal fluid accumulates within the cranial cavity ventricles, causing pressure in the cranial cavity.
