Rearmament
Only 3 days after he became leader of Germany, Hitler ordered his military chiefs to secretly start building up the navy, army, and air force, known as the rearmament.
Lebensraum
Hitler wanted to make Germany bigger by stealing land from weaker countries. He believed the Germans were a powerful and great race and they needed extra living space (which he called Lebensraum)
Rhineland
1936, Hitler broke the rules (again) by sending his soldiers into the Rhineland area of Germany. (His soldiers weren't allowed anywhere neare France.) Again, no country stopped him - he wasn't invading another country but just moving his soldiers within his country.
Austria
In 1938, German troops marched into Austria. Yet again, Hitler had broken the Treaty of Versailles.
-
Poland
Poland was next on Hitler's list and he threatened to invade in August 1939, but only after he made an alliance with USSR. Hitler thought that the Russians might feel threatened if he continued to push his soldiers in their direction so he made a deal with Stalin.
Blitzkreig
Used to describe a rapid, overwhelming, surprise attack/invasion.
