Definition

Is an infection of the tonsils, two masses of tissue inflammation of the tonsils

It is the inflammation of the two oval shaped pads of tissues at the back of throat

Signs and symptoms

Headache

Red and swollen tonsils

Difficult in swallowing

Scratching voice

Stiff neck

Enlarged lymph nodes

Fever

Sore throat

Pathophysiology

A ring of lymphoid tissue encircles the pharynx forming a protective barrier the ring consist of group of lympoid tonsils

Bacteria

Immunologic

Nursing care plan

Place the child prone or side-lying position promotes drainage of blood

Discourage the intake of milk, ice cream, and pudding these dairy products may coat the throat causing the child to cough out and clear the throat
