DEFINITION
: carbohydrates are the sugars and fibers found in fruits, grains,vegetables and milk products
Carbohydrates are macronutrients, meaning they are one of the three main ways the body obtains energy
DEFINITION:
Are fundamental factors for the proper functioning of the organism
they play the plastic function because they enter the constitution of bones and muscles and strengthen them
They must be introduced daily to cope with the loss that occurs with sweating
FUNCTIONS:
carbohydrates have 3 main functions:
they produce energy
they can be stored in muscle stores
they can turn into fat
FUNCTIONS:
Mineral salts have 2 main functions:
regulate the hydroplane balance
help enzymes to produce energy
There are two main types of carbohydrates
complex
they can be found in foods that contains good amount of fiber and require much time for digestion
simple
are digested quickly
lead to a glycemic peak in the blood
they can be found in sugar, milk or some fruits
In general,to take mineral salts that our body needs, it is advisable to consume all food groups and drink a lot of water
DAILY REQUIREMENT OF CARBOHYDRATES

CHILD
The intake of carbohydrates is important,60% (10% simple carbohydrates and 50% complex carbohydrates) of the daily energy requirement
TEENS:
From 12 to 17 years the adolescent's body requires about 2500calories per day
ADULTS:
International guidelines recommend that carbohydrates provide 45 to 65% of the total daily calorie intake
