Inflammatory conditions of the eye
Definition
It can accur in one eye or both eyes and affects the layer of the eye called uvea. It can also be associated with inflammation of the other parts of the eye and last for a short time or long time.
Causes
Swelling around the eyes
Caused by inflammation resulting from a variety of conditions
It can include infection
Injury and allergies
Nursing care plan
Alleviate pain to the patient by giving analgesia
Administer antihistamine, antibiotics and anti-viral as prescribed by the doctor

Pathophysiology
The exact pathophysiology is unknown. Inflammation of the Iris and the ciliary body causes a breakdown of blood- ocular barrier. This condition allows protein and WBC to extravasate into aqueous, resulting in the signs of cell and flare which are typical of iritis
Signs and symptoms
Eye discharge
Feeling of the lens not staying in place maybe experienced
Pink eye production
Light sensitivity
Pain and blurred vision
Decreased vision
Dark floating spots in your field of vision
Risk factors
Being exposed to something you're allergic to
Being exposed to someone infected with viral or bacterial conjunctivitis
Utilisation of contact lenses more especially extended wear lenses
Health education for patient
Teach the patient about signs such as hyperermia and discharge
Patient should be advised to use a lean tissue every time when wiping the eye
Encourage the patient to wear dark glasses if the eyes are sensitive to light
