CONJUNCTIVITIS
DEFINITION
Inflammation and infection of the conjunctiva
NURSING CARE PLAN
Isolate the patient incase of pink eye
Padding of discharging eye
Regular antiseptic cleansing of the eye
CLINICAL MANIFESTATION
Hyperaemia
Discharge
Swelling of the eye
Irritation
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
The bacterial flora may erode to the surface of the ocular and cause infection
The ocula surface of the mucosa will be exposed to allergies
Making it susceptible to developing allergic reactions
ORBITAL CELULITIS
DEFINITION
Serious infection that involves the fat and muscles located within the orbit
NURSING CARE PLAN
Assess the patient's visual acuity bilaterally
With and without visual aids
Give antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor
Ceanse the eye using tje antiseptic technique
CLINICAL MANIFESTATION
Oedema
Erythemia
Pains
Hyperaemia
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
It is complication of bacterial rhinosinusitis
In most cases of orbital cellulitis l, rhinosinusitis is the source of infection
OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM
DEFINITION
Type of conjunctivitis that affects the newborn up to 21 years of birth
NURSING CARE PLAN
Encourage tje mother to wash hands before and after touching the baby
Eye swabbing immediately when the head is delivered
Instilling prophylactic antibiotics
Wash hands before and after installing eye treatment
Health educate on importance of antenatal visits

Chemosis
Redness
Sticking together of the eyelids
Purulent discharge
