Defination
movable joints between the ossicles are fixed
Pathophysiology
Progressive loss of stapes movements
Due to formation of sclerotic bone
Then fixes the stapes foot plate onto the oval window
Stapes becomes immobile causing conductive hearing loss
Signs and symptoms
Hearing loss
Dizziness
Tinnitus or ringing, roaring in your ears
speaking softly
Hearing sound from within your body
Nursing care plan
Nursing diagnosis
Disturbed sensory perception.
Evaluation
Appropriate hearing aid and improved speech.
Nursing intervention
Assess presence and amount of hearing impairment.
Otoscope exam
Bed rest for 24 hours
Speaking slowly an in a normal tone.
Maintain safety
