Grade 1:(mild retinopathy)- arteriolar narrowing ( generalized and focal),AV nicking, and arteriolar wall opacity.
Grade 2:( moderate retinopathy)- Retina haemorrhage, micro-organisms, cotton wool spots and hard exudates
Grade 3: ( malignant retina)- moderate retinopathy plus optic disc swelling.
- Blurred vision.
- Malignant entails the treating of hypertension.

Funduscopic examination shows arteriolar constriction, arteriovenous nicking, vascular wall changes, flame shaped hemorrhage, cotton wool spots, yellow hard exudates and optic disc oedema

Avoid food that is high in fat, sugar and sodium
