Defination
An inner ear disorder that causes episodes of vertigo ( spinning) smoking, infections or a high- salt diet may worsen the disease

Causes
Unkown but related to malabsoption of the endolymph in the membranes labyrinth
Pathophysiology
Tissue changes in the labyrinth trigger production of excess endolymph, which distorts contour of the membraneou labyrinth and destroys the delicate vestibula and cochlea hair cells

Allergies
Trauma to the head or ear

Refer for audiometric studies
Nursing Care Plan
Instruct patient to avoid sudden movements
Keep patient in quiet environment
Discuss diet with a patient which will not include salt or will have less salt
Advise patient to quit smoking if he / she smokes because smoking can worsen the disease.
Counselling the patient about the condition
