Staff have concerns about pupil. This can be varied and based on things like less than expect progress in a subject, parental concern, pupil concerns, difficulties in social communication. It is important for teachers to have a good relationship with students to spot the varied signs.
Talk to behaviour support mentor
Talk to form tutor and head of year
Come up with an Individual plan using differentiated instruction of the pupil
Is the child making progress?

Remain at this level. Make regular updates to head of year and parents.
No
Make a written referral to SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) At this point the schools onsite Special Education Needs Departments will become involved.
The SEN Department will arrange the following: Meeting with the parents and setting goals and desired outcomes. Collecting assessment data. Observing the pupil.
Is the child making progress
