does making a living as a street
artist or street performer appeal to you? why, or why not?
no
point 1
point 2
may not serve as a stable source of income
although people might stop by and watch you do your thing, it does not guarantee that they'll give you any money. they might just watch and leave when you're done, sees you as just a free entertainer
especially with the covid-19 pandemic still around, situations are definitely unpredictable. if being a street artist/performer is one's only source of income, it can be tough and challenging to earn some money if streets suddenly become empty due to outbreaks or something.
being a street artist/performer basically means you have to rely on an audience, not very reliable bc audience sizes can vary. not enough audience --> won't gain recognition --> less money earned daily?? accidents/diseases can also ruin chances of finding a big audience size
some people might want to save their change/money, so they just watch you perform for free, then walk away without giving you much after you've finished. some may not have the change; although there are nice people out there showing their appreciation in order ways, ultimately (and realistically speaking), you wouldn't be able to earn much each day when you're only getting a few dollars here and there. if your main purpose of becoming a street performer/artist is to earn a living, this may not be the most sustainable or viable source of income
weather is also another factor. bad weather conditions or rainy seasons etc. can prevent you from being able to perform outside either due to rain, or due to wet conditions making it not so preferable/suitable for performances / art sessions idk
does not suit my taste because being a street artist/performer seems too... demanding?
might not have good interactions with certain people (not know who you'll come across)
watchful eyes, you're always being watched and judged on your performance, one little mistake and someone might know
always have to practice your skill/performance or you might lose the audience when not up to standard
might not be very fulfilling,, perform for long hours only to earn little each day (disheartening) + might burn oneself out
nervous + shy: while performing, there's no doubt you'll meet many strangers. some might give weird looks or make weird faces while you're doing your work + judgement
yes
point 1
point 2
new experiences
meet new people
more performance opportunities (performance bookings)
unconventional job, very interesting, makes life more interesting
it is also inevitable that some people will ignore you
in control of workload
unlike typical and common jobs, being a street performer/artist rarely requires you to work under someone
more relaxed, know when you can take off-days
make all the decisions for yourself, know what's the best for yourself
all responsibilities and decisions are in your hands
