Initial school registration and meeting with parents. Does the child have any known difficulties or disabilities?
Pre-assessment and evaluation. Look for any signs of disabilities or struggles.
The child is diagnosed as having a disability.
Examine options. What types of services does the child need?
School and parents meet within 30 days to discuss IEP. The parents are informed of all of the details before the meeting: who will be there, the purpose of the meeting, and the credentials of the professionals.
The IEP is written and discussed with the parents. Do they give consent?
