The Giver New Child Timeline
The new child is born from one of the many assigned birth mothers.
After birth the new child is kept in the nurturing center and monitored for growth and cared for by the assigned nurturers until December.
In December the new child is brought to the ceremonies of ones and is assigned its name and family unit.
The child attends the ceremony of twos but nothing happens here it just shows the passage of time.
At the ceremony of threes the child starts to learn the precision of language. If the new child is a girl it receives its hair ribbons. They also start to dream tell.
At the ceremony of fours the child receives a jacket with large buttons that fasten down the back so they have to help each other get dressed which teaches the child interdependence.
The ceremonies of fives and sixes have no major changes just mark the passage of time.
At the ceremony of sevens the child is given a jacket with small buttons on the front as the first sign of independence
At the ceremony of eights the child starts their volunteer hours. They are also given jackets with smaller buttons and small pockets to keep some of their small belongings with them.
