JOHN DEWEY
Society is an organic union of individuals.
Dewey pointed out that the learner must always be active, an actor or participant in an ever-changing world.
Dewey emphasized that humans are social beings and believes that the educated individual is a social individual.
For Dewey the school is a social institution.
The very word "student" has come almost to mean one who is not engaged in having beneficial experiences, but in absorbing knowledge directly.
He was against what he called "the spectator theory of knowledge".
He says that minds that appropriate knowledge through the direct energy of the intellect
In Democracy and Education, Dewey wrote: In schools, those under instruction are looked upon as acquiring knowledge as theoretical spectators.
The practice itself Dewey's methodological approach consists of 5 phases:
Second is the identification of a problem or difficulty arising from that experience.
Third is the inspection of the available data, as well as the search for viable solutions.
Fourth the Formulation of the hypothesis of solution.
Fifth, the hypothesis is verified through action.
First is the Consideration of some actual and real experience of the child.
Similarity
For John Dewey, as for Tyler, the human capacity to think had evolved.
For them the mind was an adaptive faculty and had a functional role in each individual's life.

Both would guide intelligent action in a constantly changing world.
