In theory, socialism has the greatest goal of common wealth, based on public benefits; because the government controls almost all of society's functions, it can make better use of resources, labors, and lands; and socialism reduces wealth disparity, not only among different areas, but also among all societal ranks and classes.
Another political challenge in the transition from socialism to market is the impact on the working class. The use of unemployment as a disciplining factor in a social order is intimately connected to the formation of a market system as the primary coordinator of economic activity, including labor services.
