How is the theme of Christmas presented in this Novella
The Cratchits
-
The Cratchits are a comparison to Scrooge and show the predominant theme of Christmas Carol: that family and generosity are more valuable than great riches. Scrooge has the one thing they don't, money, but Cratchits have everything else that leads to happiness and contentment: family, love, kindness and generosity
The title and structure
The theme of the novella is clear from the title - A Christmas Carol - which refers to the traditional carols that are sung at Christmas time.
The five staves reflect the structure of a carol and link the story to the joy of singing.
