Education
87% of working women had a college degree
1986- 50.34% of students in higher education were women
Despite this, they were still underpaid
Employment
Women made 12% less than their male counterparts
Were encouraged to enter the workforce, but only due to lack of men and they were needed to help the economy function
Many women took low paying jobs or jobs near their homes so they could focus on parental duties
Got 1 year maternity leave with full pay
Domestic life

Daycare was very low cost and was state run
Double burden on women expected to work and take care of their families/households
Young couples were given advantages in apartments
Healthcare
Abortion legalized in 1972
Women weren't part of the discussion to legalize it
Free abortion within first 12 weeks of pregnancy
Could take time off of work if their child was ill
Received free contraceptives
