Pathophysiology
glaucoma is caused by raised intraocular pressure
raised pressure that compresses and damages the optic nerve
Once the optic nerve is damaged
it fails to carry visual information to the brain and this results in loss of vision
raised pressure on the retina causes the cells and nerve ganglions in the sensitive retina to due off
small blood vessels of the retina are also compressed depriving it of nutrients
This results in a clinically progressive loss of peripheral visual field and ultimately vision

Clinical manifestation
Seeing halos around lights
Eye pain
Redness in your eye
Hazy eyes in infants
Vomiting
Nursing intervention
laser surgery
microsurgery to lower pressure in your eye.
eye drops or oral medications and the patient patient need to take as per doctor’s orders
Lift up your head to help lowering your eye pressure
Protect and don't rub your eyes
