Probably the biggest variety when it comes to games with pixel graphics and HD graphics, most of the more popular fighting games use HD graphics, however, many use pixel graphics (especially indie fighting games)

Character designs are extremely important in fighting games because of how important hitboxes and hurtboxes are in them (especially in competitive scenes)

Requires a lot of careful animation and coding

Usually very casual, caution is required significantly less in platformers than in many other game genres

Mostly casual, caution is generally not required as much as it is in most genres, however, balancing characters requires a lot of caution

Generally much more competitive than other genres, caution is not usually required quite as much as a some genres but is required a lot more in shooter games than in platformers or RPGs

Often receives balance patches

Small balance patches can happen, almost always leaving the game almost the exact same as before
