nursing diagnosis
- ineffective breathing pattern caused by nasal blockage and mucus
- hyperthermia related to fever caused by the infection causing the disorder
nursing interventions
- administer warm cloth for the patient to breath in it to releive nasal congestion or a humidifire
- administer corticosteriods for inflammation and swelling in the sinuses and also antibiotics for infection
- encourage the patient to drink plenty of fluids to thin mucus and flush down mucus from the throat
- encourage the patient to eat diet rich in vitamin C like oranges and to not allergy causing foods like peanuts
problem
- nasal congestion
- pain in the sinuses causing headache
- fever
expected outcomes
- patient to be able to breath without any difficulty
- pain to be relieves in the sinuses

pathophysiology
inflammation of the sinus ostium complex, which spreads to the tissues around the ostium, and finally to other maxillary sinus locations, blocking the ability of maxillary sinus mucosal clearance.

causes
Viral, bacterial or fungal infections
Allergic reactions or environmental factors
investigations
- a physical examination and history taking can be done to diagnose this condition
- MRI or CT Scan can be done to show a clear clear view of the sinuses and nasal area
- endoscopy to check for inflamation in the sinuses
