PULLEYS - Coggle Diagram
PULLEYS
Fixed pulleys
It is a wheel that has a groove for a rope, chain or belt to go around it
-
It reduces the load, R, when the effort, F, is applied
A fixed pulley is belenced when the effort, F, is equal to the load, R: F = R
-
-
Uses: wells, gym equipment
Moveable pulleys
-
-
-
The effort needed to move a load with a moveable pulley is half of the effort needed with a fixed pulley
-
Compound pulleys
This is a set of fixed and moveable pulleys, often called a block and tackle
If we use more pulleys it often becomes more complex, but less effort is needed to move the load
-
Uses: in passesnger lifts, good lifts, cranes
A pulley is a linear motion mechanism used to raise and lower loads easily because we use our weight to counteract them
