Mènière's disease
Definition
It's a disorder in the inner ear that is thought to be related to malabsoption of the endolymph in the membranous labyrinth.
Pathophysiology
It has been postulated that tissue changes in the labyrinth trigger production of excess endolymph, which distorts the contour of the membranous labyrinth and destroys the delicate vestibular and cochlear hair cells
Clinical manifestations

Fluctuating hearing loss due to attacks thay may be preceded by a sense of fullness in the ear which increses tinnitus.

Nursing management
The patient requires reassurance and counseling that the condition is not life-threatening and can be managed by prescribed medication. Symptomatic care should be implemented.

Must make sure that the patient understands that the condition is not life-threatening.
When an attack occurs the patient must seek assistance immediately to avoid injuries.
Causes
Age, children younger than 4
Adults as old as 90
And other adults between ages of 20 and 60.
