MOVEMENT ANALYSIS
Movement
Conservation of linear momentum
There is an experimental law formulated by Newton that states that the diference in velocities of the two objects is directly related to the diference in velocities before the collision.
Linear momentum and linear impulse: the impulse-momentum relationship
If the force is large and the time is also large, there will be a great change in momentum.
the size and direction of the change in momentum of a body or object depends on the force applied to it and the time for which that force acts.
The property an object has due to its movement. It is calculated by the mass of the object multiplied by the velocity at which it is moving (mv).
Newton’s laws of motion
the three laws that relate forces to the
change of motion
Newton’s second law of motion
The change in motion to
the force causing that change.
“The acceleration (for a body/ object of constant mass) is proportional to, and in the same direction as, the unbalanced force applied to it.”
“Force is equal to mass multiplied by acceleration
Newton’s third law of motion
the forces between two objects
“When one body or object applies a force to another, the second body or object will apply a force equal in size but opposite in direction to the frst body or object.”
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Newton’s frst law of motion
Bodies or objects stay where they are or keep moving unless acted on by an unbalanced force
“An object will remain at rest or
continue with constant velocity unless acted on by an unbalanced force.”
the forces must be balanced.
Kinetics
forces involved in the movement of an object or body.
Gravity
The attraction between objects is related to their mass and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Mass and weight
Mass is the amount of material in a body or object
Weight is the efect of the force of gravity on mass.
Forces
is the mechanical interaction that goes on between two objects
or bodies.
Force changes or attempts to change the motion of an object.
