Accommodations:
Behavioral: Students with this disability may become fatigued or tired more easily with this physical impairment.
Participation:Certain classes such as physical education may pose difficulties for students with this disability. These students must be allowed to be excused from such classes, especially students who can't participate effectively.
Seating: Students with this disability may need special seating arrangements to help with posture and mobility. Also movement from class to class must be counted when making arrangements, due to the fact that some students may not be mobile easily. Also providing an elevator may help.
Technology:Special assistive technologies may be useful for communication, increasing fine motor skills or mobility in and between classes. Devices and technologies that might be utilized may include wheelchairs, specialized desks, canes, crutches, communication software, or speech recognition software.
Travel: Students with these special needs may need special transportation to and from school. According to federal law, schools must provide adequate transportation for these students to travel to and from school.
