This had a very negative effect on agriculture
Especially in Aragon and Valencia
Majority of them were good farmers
Many farmers left the countryside
Because of the hard life they got
They migrated to the cities
Picaros (Rogues) became more predominant
Trade industry crisis
While other kingdoms were creating and expanding their colonial empires
the Spanish monarchy ran out of resources from the Americas
Also the mines were empty
consequently the spanish monarchs main source decreased
And the sea route with the Americas was constantly
Under threat from pirates
A crisis in craft industry
Spanish manufactured products
were not competitively priced in comparison to other countries
In 17 century agricultural crisis
Wars
resulted in areas being plundered
So agricultural production decreased
Plagues
Caused increase on mortality
Reduction on agricultural workforce
Farmers migrated

To avoid paying taxes
Many of them fled
Because were unable to pay them

Were outdated
Resulting in low productivity
Also years of bad harvets
When agriculture decreased
people not enough food
This situation is called subsistence crisis
Consequently hunger spread
This led on a decrease of population
and demographic decline throghout Europe

Situation improved
Resulting in an increase of population
There were fewer wars
A growth in colonial trade
Textile industries grew in some countries
