Variables

EV
Participant variables: race, gender, age, level of study, prior knowledge, emotional state, any medical setbacks etc.
As people are so different from each other the data represents a small sample of people who are diverse however because they are not the same the data cannot be strictly applied to anyone due to such inconsistencies. This then impacts the reliability of the data.
Situational variables: Background noise, volume of audio clip etc.
These variables impact the performance of the participant therefore making the data not completely accurate in regard to IV
There is no way to confirm whether the added imagery and description was used or taken into account by the participants

Sample: 36 students taking part in the year 11 SACE psychology course.
Population: Teenagers who attend Glenunga Internation High School
-
Positives:
The sample has a variety of participants meaning that the results would come from a diversified group of people meaning that the data could be applied to a greater group of people
-
Ethics
Positives:
Informed consent was adhered to as the participants who were under the age of 16 were required to have parent permission to participate meanwhile those above 16 were able to consent on their own behalfs
Voluntary participation was adhered to as it was made clear to all students that despite given consent they were not required to participate
Right to withdraw was adhered to as before the experiment began the students were reminded that if at all they felt uncomfortable or no longer wanted to participate in the experiment they did have the right to leave
Negatives:
The ethical consideration of confidentiality was not totally adhered to in this process. Despite being issued id numbers to keep their identity confidential the data was ultimately recorded by the participants on a google sheet. As version history is tracked by google the identities of all the participants who inputted their results onto the sheet can be accessed by anyone who has access to the document
