FLOW MEASUREMENT
importance
-
-
ensuring fluid control processes run smoothly, softly and cost- effectively
-
-
vortex flowmeter
basic operation
A barrier (bluff body) is placed in a moving stream. As the flow goes around the object, its alternates creating vortices (swirl of media) from the top or bottom of the object.
-
The frequency of the alternate vortices is proportional to the flowrate of the fluid, measured by a transducer placed just behind the bluff body .
-
-
definition
determination of the quantity of the fluid either a liquid, vapor or gas that passes through a pipe, duct or open channel
BASIC OPERATION
The operation is based on Faraday’s Law of electromagnetic induction. When a conductive liquid flows through the magnetic field, a small voltage (emf) is induced.
This voltage is proportional to the velocity of the flow and is accurately measured by two electrodes mounted opposites each other inside the metering pipe. The magnetic field remain constant through the DC current flowing through the electromagnetic coil.
.The fluid has to be conductive and flows through the non-metal part of the piping system. use a magnetic field to generate and channel liquid flow through a pipe
