s1(1) Basic offence
"a person without lawful excuse destroys or damages any property belonging to another intending to destroy or damage any such property or being reckless as to whether any such property would be destroyed or damaged shall be guilty of an offence."
s1(2) aggravated offence
offence intentionally or recklessly to destroy or damage property intending to to endanger life thereby or being reckless as to whether life is endangered.

R v Steer (1988)
D fired rifle at window of house. Not sufficient that D intended or was reckless as to endangering life by shooting.
R v Webster (1995)
followed Steer. Pushed stone off railway bridge on to passing train. D had been reckless as to whether life would be endangered by the damage to the roof causing material to fall on passengers.
