However what happens we have a pandemic? When we are in lockdown? In isolation? Teens need contact with their friends, lack of communication can lead to depression and mental health issues.According to the Australian Institute of Family Studies, "... peer relationships are very influential in adolescence... peers become a significant source of social and emotional support." However, what happens when teens can not interact with each other at school or sporting venues because of Covid-19? Sadly, health experts mention that Covid-19 and its variants are going stay for a long time. Therefore, the isolation caused by pandemics can have negative health issues for teens. Furthermore, you are now homeschooling but what happens when you can't get a hold of your teacher to conference and you are anxious about a question on the assignment. What do you do? The answer is simple social media provides with a platform to speak with each other; not only about the shows and movies on Netflix they saw before but also support for each other and on assignments in not being able to leave the home. Additionally all this conferencing during lockdown you are learning to improve your communication something that is important for your social skills.
